Pipe Hill House – Accessibility Statement

Pipe Hill House is a Grade II listed building nearly 300 years old and as such has a variety of level changes on each of its three floors, reflecting the many alterations over the centuries.

Outside there is ample parking to the front of the house. The front door is approached by the gravel drive.

HOUSE LAYOUT
Guests are welcomed at the front door and shown into the Drawing Room to register.  The Drawing Room is situated on the ground floor with step free/level entry from the front door. The inner hall has oak flooring. The door opening to the dining room is 900mm wide. The room has a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs, together with a low coffee table. Lighting is natural daylight with overhead lighting used as well as table lamps around the room, controlled by a switch at the doorway. The flooring is a new short pile carpet.

The Dining Room is off the inner hallway accessed by a small 110mm high step down onto a solid quarry tiled floor. The door opening to the dining room is 900mm wide. Lighting is natural daylight and light levels are controlled by switches. We are able to cater for varying dietary requirements. To ensure that we can cater for your specific needs, please advise us when making a booking of your dietary requirements.

The house is on 3 levels; ground, first floor and second floor. The ground floor is generally level, apart from a small step into the dining room from the inner hallway. There is a toilet with washbasin to the left of the main hallway and this again has a small step down.  All public areas, halls, stairs, landing, are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights.

GUEST BEDROOMS
Approaching the bedrooms there are 8 steps to a half landing, then 7 steps to the first floor. From the first floor to the second there are a further 8 steps to a second half landing followed by another 11 steps to the top floor landing. Each step is 113 cm wide and 19 cm high. There is a handrail on the left and a short pile carpet on the stairs and landings.

The Walnut Room
The Walnut Room is on the first floor there are two steps up to the en-suite shower room they are 75cm wide and 12cm and 9 cm high. The room is 4140mm x 4730mm (13.5 feet x 15.5 feet) max. The step into the shower is 16cm high but the shower is 75cm wide and 112cm deep. The floor is heated and tiled.

The Botanic Room
The Botanic Room is on the second floor and has a small 9cm high step up into the bedroom. The room is 5380mm x 4960mm (17.6 feet x 16.2 feet).The floor is a short pile carpet. The bathroom has a small step 9cm down and is equipped with both a shower and bath which need to be stepped into. The floor is electrically heated and tiled. The shower threshold is 14.5cm high and the enclosure 78cmx110cm maximum.  Within the bathroom there is also a radiator seat.

The Snowberry Room
The Snowberry Room is on the second floor. The room is 4140mm x 4730mm, (13.5 feet x 15.5 feet).The floor is a short pile carpet. The bathroom has a small slope c2.5cm up and is equipped with both a shower and bath which need to be stepped into. The floor is electrically heated and tiled. The shower threshold is 14.5cm high and the enclosure 78cmx110cm maximum.

TRANSPORT
Lichfield is served by two railway stations:

  • Lichfield City in the city centre opposite the bus station which has trains running to New Street Birmingham every 30 minutes a journey that takes around 35- 40 minutes.
  • Lichfield Trent Valley is for travel on the West Coast Main Line and reaches London Euston in just over an hour.

Bus services from the bus station to Walsall pass the house. This is bus 81 there is a bus stop outside.
Taxi services are available at the bus and train stations.
If you are cycling here, there is a secure facility for bicycles.

If driving here, there is ample parking to the front of the house within the courtyard. There is additional parking to the side of the house opposite the field. We can cater for vehicles of most shapes and sizes. Our own vehicles are parked in the courtyard and if required we can also accommodate secure garage parking for one vehicle.
